5. Installation
Warning
The assembly and installation of Schüco VentoTherm must
be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with
the safety instructions.
Before commencing the installation work, check the de-
vice for any transport damage.
The relevant accident prevention and safety regulations
must be adhered to in specific situations.
5.1 Installation location
Caution
Schüco VentoTherm cannot be installed directly next to
devices with large magnetic or electromagnetic fields.
Schüco VentoTherm can only be installed on Schüco win-
dow systems. Follow the Schüco fabrication instructions
to install the windows.
The installation location of Schüco VentoTherm is limited
to protection rating IP21.
5.1.1 Protection rating IP 21
This protection rating can by achieved by correctly instal-
ling Schüco VentoTherm.
An important feature of the casing is to protect the compo-
nents installed from contact, foreign bodies and water. The
different protection capabilities are divided into IP protection
ratings (IP = International protection).
The conditions under which protection must be guaranteed
are determined in DIN EN 60529.
The IP protection class is specified with two numbers
(IP XX). The first number specifies the protection against
contact and foreign bodies, the second number against
water.
Class IP 21 is therefore complete protection against:
Contact (finger guard)
Foreign bodies (diameter from 12.5 mm, length up to 80 mm)
Water (against water dripping down)

5.2 Before installation
Before installing, note and check the following points:
Check all the fixings are aligned and screwed in correct -
ly.
Check that all the connections sit securely.
Check that the connection to the operating unit is in
good working order.
Check the cover of the electrical connections.
Check that the voltage of the device matches the on-site
mains voltage.
The site must be swept clean in accordance with VDI
6022.
5.3 Installing Schüco VentoTherm
Warning
Before installing and dismantling, the device must be
disconnected from the mains supply.
Remove the packaging.
Remove the adhesive strip which secures the toggle-
type fasteners.
Insert the device into the holder mounted on the outer
frame extension.
Secure the device by closing the toggle-like fasteners on
the side.
If necessary, you can tighten up the toggle-like fasteners
by turning the holding eyelets.
