4. When the object measured is grounded, usually connect
the EARTH (ground) lead to the grounded side and the
LINE lead to the circuit (the value read with this method is
lower than that read with the reverse connection).
5. To prevent measurement errors, keep the LINE cord away
from the object measured and the ground whenever
possible. Particularly, when measuring high resistance of
100 GΩ or more, the reading can be stabilized by keeping
the test cord as apart as possible from each other.
6. The insulation resistance varies widely depending on the
temperature and humidity as well as on the test voltage.
In general, it decreases as the temperature, humidity or
voltage increases.
7. The tester may generate a sound during voltage generation,
particularly when the resistance is low. This is not malfunction.
