5.3
Electrical connection
Risk of fatal injury due to electric shock.
−
Upon installation of the electric cables, you
are required to observe the regulations
concerning low-voltage installations ac-
cording to DIN VDE 0100 as well as the
regulations of your local power supplier.
−
Use a suitable voltage supply which guar-
antees that no dangerous voltages reach
the device in normal operation or in the
event of a fault in the system or any other
system parts.
−
Only perform the electrical connection after
switching off the supply voltage. Make sure
the supply voltage cannot be switched on
unintentionally.
Upon delivery, the sensors and the
connecting cable are already connected to
the terminals of the electric actuator with
process controller.
Risk of fatal injury due to electric shock at
switching output L' in device versions B and
D after connecting the supply voltage.
The switching output L' may be live. Do not
touch the switching output L'.
Î
Connect the connecting cable to the volt-
age supply (see Fig. 3).

Î
Install the ready-wired sensors depend-
ing on the application.
All ready-configured applications are de
-
scribed in the Configuration Manual
KH 5724-8. Refer to the plant schemes to
find out where the sensors are preferably to
be mounted for an application.
Î
Switch on voltage supply.
On
starting up the actuator for the first
time
, the error reading E7 (no initializa-
tion performed) is displayed.
Î
Start initialization (see section 5.4).
After an actuator which has
already been
initialized
is connected to the voltage supply,
a zero calibration is automatically per-
formed, during which the actuator stem fully
extends or retracts depending on how A8.1
configuration item is set. After the zero cali
-
bration is completed, the actuator starts
closed-loop operation. The default settings
cause the actuator stem to extend during ze-
ro calibration.
