The SALEWA MTN Spike is built to provide traction on any icy surface.
Fastening and Removing:
Always put on and remove the SALEWA Mtn Spike while seated. To fasten the SALEWA Mtn Spike,
place the tip of your boot into the front section of the crampon and adjust, so the toe guide wire
is sitting in front of the shoe, not on top or underneath the shoe.
The spikes must sit untangled and positioned well along the outer edge of your footwear under-
neath the ball of the foot. Pull the rubber back-tab toward the heel, and cover your footwear with
the rubber evenly positioned around the sides of your shoe.
Pass the rip and stick strap under and over the apposite side of the rubber to prevent slippage of
the crampon. Place one foot at a time to ensure balance, and start walking on a flat surface to
test that it is fitting well. lf the chains or rubber are loose, you may need to considera smaller size
for a tighter fit.
To remove the product, slide the back-tab off of the heel of the shoe, and slip the front of the foot
out of the front section of the crampon .
The SALEWA Mtn Spike is designed for autumn/winter speed hiking and running and is not made
for technical climbing. These are not mountaineering crampons .
Avoid using the SALEWA Mtn Spike on stairs, rocks, or river crossings. Use Mtn Spike in winter
snow and ice conditions. Use the SALEWA Mtn Spike with regular outdoor footwear, such as
runners, hiking boots and insulated boots.
Acceptable Usage Temperature: +37°C to -55°C

place. To prevent rust, apply a thin coat of oil on the carbon steel plates, hinges and spikes by
simply wiping once with a cloth soaked with some oil.

(with kinks, under compressive load, under tension) The product should NEVER come in contact
with corrosive chemicals such as battery acid, solvents, or chemical salts.
They can both negatively influence the materials’ mechanical properties.
