MC1-PANEL-16 User Guide (v4.0)
There are two methods for re-establishing communications: using Auto Discovery, and manually adding the frame
using its IP address. This section briefly outlines how to use both methods.
To use auto discovery
• Perform one of the following:
› Use the
Auto Discovery
feature in DashBoard to quickly refresh communications and the list of devices listed
in the
Tree View
. This is the preferred method especially if you suspect that more than communication was
lost to more than one MC1-MK card.
› From the Tree View, click
. This enables DashBoard to query the network and automatically add any new
frames to the Tree View.
For More Information on...
• configuring the auto discovery feature to always detect new devices, refer to the
DashBoard User Manual
.
To manually add an openGear frame

Selecting a Master Control Channel
A single MC1-PANEL-16 is able to control multiple Master Control channels (MC1-MK cards). When you assign a
card to a Channel Select button, you have the ability to switch between different channels by selecting the
corresponding buttons on the chassis. When a new channel is selected, the MC1-PANEL-16 state (including the
crosspoints and mnemonics) is updated.
When you select a channel button:
• The Active Channel On Air Control interface represents the selected channel (MC1-MK card) assigned to that
channel. A message displays in the upper right corner of the interface, indicating that this the active (on air)
channel.
• The MC1-PANEL-16 communicates with the MC1-MK cards over ethernet.
To select a Master Control channel
1. Ensure that you have assigned MC1-MK cards to the required channel buttons as outlined in the section
Assigning an MC1-MK Card to a Channel Button
2. Press one of the
Channel Select
buttons located on the top left corner of the MC1-PANEL-16 chassis.
• The Channel Select button on the MC1-PANEL-16 chassis is now lit and flashing.
• The display on the MC1-PANEL-16 chassis reports the channel name and IP address of the openGear frame
the selected MC1-MK card is installed in.
• Your DashBoard client displays the On Air Control interface for that channel.
• The state of the MC1-PANEL-16 now matches the state of the selected MC1-MK card.
