Using the Hydraulic Validator
DRAINING THE
HYDRAULIC FLUID To drain the hydraulic fluid from the validator, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the isolation valve fully counterclockwise.
2. Turn the validator onto its left side (pressure port nearest to
workbench). Place a receptacle below the pressure port to collect
hydraulic fluid.
3. Drain the system by slowly winding in the screwpress, then
depressing the priming pump plunger to expel any fluid
remaining in the validator.
4. If necessary, apply an air line to the priming fluid inlet to clear
any remaining fluid out of the validator.
FLUSHING:
REPLENISHING OR
CHANGING THE
HYDRAULIC FLUID If necessary, flush out the hydraulic system as follows to remove any
contaminants:
1. Connect a priming hose assembly to the fluid inlet port and the
pressure port as shown below in Figure 7-3.

2. Fill the priming fluid container with fresh hydraulic fluid of the
required type.
3. Using the priming pump, pump fresh hydraulic fluid through the
system until clean hydraulic fluid, free of air bubbles, emerges
into the container at the output port.
4. Discard the contaminated fluid expelled during this process.
5. Remove the hose from the output port and fit a blanking plug in
its place to prevent contamination.
6. Close the isolation valve and remove the priming fluid inlet hose
from the priming inlet.
7. Clean off any surplus oil that may have spilled onto the validator
casing.
The validator is now ready for operation or storage.
