Relief Valve (REL VALVE)
Test
The relief valve test indicates the minimum and maximum pressure
points of the valve being tested. The minimum and maximum operating
points are displayed on the screen.
To perform a relief valve test, refer to Figure 5-15 for the hookup
diagram and proceed as follows:
Relief Valve (REL VALVE) Task Mode Procedure
1. Ensure that the validator is turned off.
2. Set the pressure/vacuum knob to + or – as required.
3. Connect the system being tested to the reference pressure port on
the validator using a 1 /
8
–27 NPT coupling device and a pneumatic
hose.
4. Turn on the validator and allow it to go through its self-test
process (about 15 seconds).
5. Press the
TASK
key, then select
REL VALVE .
Press
ENTER
.
6. Press the
OUTPUT
key to change units and to turn the 24 V power
on or off, if necessary.
7. Close the release valve. Apply pressure to the relief valve being
tested with the pressure pump or with an external pressure
supply.
8. When the relief valve operates, the maximum value is displayed
on the screen.
9. Use the
STORE
key to record the test results, if desired.
10. Press F1 to perform another relief valve test, if desired.
11. Open the release valve to depressurize the system before
disconnecting.
