SMS functionality
It is possible to use SMS as a tool for checking and changing the programming of the EC II
GSM SE. SMS can also be used for monitoring the current status of the unit, checking the
signal strength and resetting an active battery alarm. If desired, a SMS can also be sent to-
gether with a lift alarm. Note that some of the functions are easy to understand and use but
others are more complicated and mainly used for advanced service purposes.
9.1 Basic instructions to send an SMS
No other text is allowed on the same line as the security code. All other text must be on the
second line of the SMS. The programming is not case sensitive. Normally a new line is
achieved in the mobile phone text editor with the symbol
The status of the lift phone is sent back with an SMS. Read more about the security code un-
der section 8.4.12 above.
9.2 Retrieving the telephone number
To be able to program EC II GSM SE via SMS one must have access to the telephone num-
ber. If that is not the case it is possible to find out by in programming mode entering the fol-
lowing sequence:
<Telephone number>
After completed programming mode the EC II GSM SE immediately will send the current con-
figuration as an SMS (according to table 1 below) to the programmed telephone number and
at the same time it will inform about the telephone number to the lift phone.
9.3 Checking the signal strength
It is possible to have information about the quality of the GSM signal for an installed lift phone
by sending an SMS according to Picture 1 below.
