10.5 Heat Demand Control Wirin
g
The heater inp
u
t can be controlled by any one of the
follo
w
ing heat demand control de
v
ices (control
de
v
ices are
w
ired to central heaters only):
10.5.1 Zone Sensor
The zone sensor (P/N 10081530) offers a
u
tomatic
control of heater inp
u
t. Heater(s) mod
u
lates based
on difference bet
w
een sensed air temperat
u
re and
the temperat
u
re setpoint. Heater mod
u
lation in
response to air temperat
u
re changes is immediate.
Setpoint is adj
u
sted
w
ith the slide bar adj
u
stment at
the bottom of the sensor. ON/OFF s
w
itch (
u
sed to
disable heater operation or reset heater from locko
u
t)
is located on the side of the sensor.
See Page 41,
Figure 21
for
w
iring details.
10.5.2 Thermostat
A thermostat offers a
u
tomatic control of heater inp
u
t.
The heater control is designed for
u
se
w
ith a
standard 2-
w
ire or 4-
w
ire lo
w
v
oltage electronic
thermostat (not for
u
se
w
ith thermostats that ha
v
e a
heat anticipator). Typical
w
iring connects the R and
W
w
ires to the heater control and does not connect
the Y (cooling) and G (fan)
w
ires to the heater
control.
The heater can be
u
sed
w
ith thermostat, 24V (p/n
90425100) if set to 5 cycles per ho
u
r. Any other
electronic thermostat
w
itho
u
t heat anticipator can be
u
sed if set to 5 or 6 cycles per ho
u
r.
On the control, the T24 and T25 (R and W) terminals
s
u
pply 24 V to po
w
er an electronic thermostat.
See
Page 46, Figure 25
for
w
iring details. Cons
u
lt the
factory for other thermostat
w
iring config
u
rations.
Heater(s) mod
u
lates based on heater and thermostat
cycle timing, history and desired setpoint by
u
sing a
pre-programmed algorithm. When
u
sing thermostat
control, heater mod
u
lation response to rapid air
temperat
u
re change is not immediate. Thermostat
control is not recommended for
u
se in areas
w
ith
freq
u
ent or high air changes.
It is important to note that d
u
ring normal operation,
heater cycle contin
u
es beyond meeting thermostat
setpoint.
