Configure the Expansion Modules
Updating NetProfiler Software
You have successfully installed the Enterprise NetProfiler software.
Note:
If the NetProfiler has an Internet connection and DNS configured, it will attempt to download licenses from the Riverbed
licensing server. You can add or download applicable licenses from the NetProfiler Configuration, Licenses page.
If your system includes Expansion Modules and Dispatcher Modules, you can install them now by performing the
same actions described for the other modules.
Configure the Expansion Modules
You can install and configure the Expansion Module software concurrently and in any order. Also, you do not need to
log into the web user interface to complete their installation.
Follow these steps for each Expansion Module
:
1.
Plug in the bootable USB memory stick.
2.
Use a terminal emulator program and a console cable to connect a laptop or other device to the Console connector.
3.
Switch on or power-cycle the module. The power switch is located in the upper right corner of the front of the
chassis. During the POST sequence, configure the BIOS to boot from an external USB device.
4.
When the system boots from your USB stick and displays the boot prompt, enter “install” and wait for the system
to install the software.
This process takes approximately 20 minutes. After the installation process completes, you can remove the USB
memory stick.
During this time you can perform Steps 1 through 3 on any other Expansion Modules you are installing.
5.
When the software installation completes and the “boot” prompt appear, remove the USB memory stick and
power-cycle the appliance.
After the system reboots, the login prompt is displayed.
6.
Log in at the login prompt using “admin” user name and “admin” password.
7.
When the configuration wizard starts, enter the required information at the prompts. For example:
