Network Type:
The field defines the type of Internet protocol used to
establish connection to a master station. The options are TCP Only, UDP
Only, and TCP and UDP (default).
TCP is the recommended protocol to use for most DNP3 network
connections. UDP can be used on a highly reliable network where the
additional overhead of TCP reliability is not needed. Because of its
connectionless design, UDP has a lower octet overhead than TCP,
which is important for pay-per-byte wireless networks.
Make TCP connection to Master (Dual End Point Mode):
when enabled,
the Universal Hub (Outstation) can also initiate endpoint connections
by doing an active open. The advantage of this mode is any side
participating in the communication can send or receive data. Master
uses this to poll a remote outstation while outstation may do this to send
status report or send warnings or signals.
IP Address of DNP3 Master:
the field specifies the IP address of the
remote DNP3 Master in Dual End Point Mode. The setting is used by both
TCP and UDP type connections.
IP Port No. of DNP3 Master:
the field specifies the listening port number
used by the remote DNP3 master in Dual End Point Mode. The setting is
used by both TCP and UDP type connections.
TCP Connection Timeout:
the field specifies maximum time, in
milliseconds, that a TCP connection stays open when there is no active
data communication. After the time is reach, the connection will be
