(1) Overview of User Program Mode
Before using user program mode you must use boot mode or PROM mode to write the write/erase
control program (the program that controls the writing to and erasion of flash memory) and the
program (RAM transfer program) for transferring that program to the RAM to the F-ZTAT
microcomputer’s internal flash memory. Figure 1.2 shows an overview of user program mode.
When using Renesas’ on-board programming tool to transfer application programs from the host
machine use the SCI (channel 1, async communications) built into the F-ZTAT microcomputer.
First, put the F-ZTAT microcomputer in the reset state.
Next, apply a voltage to the FWE pin to select user program mode. The RAM transfer proram
starts when you cancel the reset, and the write/erase control program is transferred to internal
RAM or external RAM and started.
The write/erase control program erases the user-specified block area of flash memory and writes
the application program received from the host machine to that area.
