u) Mounting the Canopy
First, cut out the see-through canopy glass (1) along the marked cutting line.
Important:
Work step by step, leaving enough space to cut off more and
more until you have the ideal fit.
The canopy frame (2) is to be painted black with a water-based paint in the
area to be glassed (3).
Once the colour is dry, the glass can be inserted and glued in place.
Practical tips:
Instead of glue you can also use thin adhesive tape. In order to avoid
excessively sharp fold in the heavily curved cabin area, you should use several
short pieces of adhesive tape.
Stick the plastic mounting (4) in the recess (5) of the canopy and then place
the magnet (6) in the plastic mounting.
Before you glue the front canopy mount (7) into place, you should check/
ascertain its exact position by putting the canopy into place first.
Finally glue the iron plate (8) into the fuselage (see fig. 25, pos. 6).
Practical tips:
If you gently heat the iron plate with a soldering iron, you can press it into the
foam so that it sits flush with the surface of the foam. This means you will
have a minimal gap between the canopy and fuselage.
