1.3.6 Switching the Instrument On and Off
Before switching on the instrument for the first time, check if the correct AC supply
voltage is set. If it is not correct, proceed as follows: (see also
●
Disconnect power cable.
●
Open cover of voltage selector using a screwdriver.
●
Pull out fuse holder and insert fuses with the required value (included in the
accessories supplied)
125 mA, slow-blow, for 230 V or 250 mA, slow-blow, for
115 V
●
Slide in fuse holder in the correct position so that the AC supply voltage setting can
be seen through the window.
●
Close the cover
The audio switchers of the R&S UPZ series have a rear-panel power switch, which
allows all-pole disconnection from the AC supply.
The instrument is on when the ON LED lights up. Immediately after power-up no
channel is selected, i.e. all channel LEDs are off. A routine is run in the R&S UPZ,
which initializes the serial interface, the internal timers and the ports.
If the user interface of the controlling Audio Analyzer is opened, an address search is
initiated starting with address 0. All R&S UPZ receive this query almost
simultaneously. The internal processor in each switcher connected then reads its own
address set via the coding switch, the board ID and the switcher type (input or output).
Each R&S UPZ whose address and type correspond to the query returns the internally
stored configuration to the Audio Analyzer. If a R&S UPZ compatible with the
preselected channels is found, the corresponding setting commands are sent to this
R&S UPZ. The associated LEDs light up.
1.3.7 EMC Safety Precautions
To prevent electromagnetic interference, the instrument must be closed when in use.
Only suitably shielded signal and control cables may be used. In particular, ensure that
the lines connected to the D-sub connectors are well shielded.
