User Manual 3162A/B

Using The Instrument 3-9

Selecting a Standard
Function Shape

Use the following command to select a standard output function:

FUNCtion:SHAPe {SINusoid | TRIangle | SQUare | PULSe |
RAMP | SINC | EXPonential | GAUSsian | NOISe | DC}

The selected waveform is output using the previously selected frequency,
amplitude, offset, and other relevant settings. The standard waveform will be
output only after the FUNC:MODE:FIX command is selected.

The query:

FUNCtion:SHAPe?

queries the standard function shape and returns either SIN, TRI, SQU, PULS,
RAMP, SINC, EXP, GAUS, NOIS or DC.

The Standard Waveform Instrument Control Panel from WaveCAD is shown
below as an example of a high-level implementation of Standard Waveform
Selection.
