the second bank of 10 messages. Each message can
be up to 80 characters.
There are 2 SideKar Extreme modes offered to send text using
the keyboard.
Immediate Mode
– characters are sent to the rig as
they are typed on the keyboard.
Buffered Mode
– characters appear on the bottom line
of the SideKar Extreme display and are not sent to the
rig unless the Enter key is pressed or the number of
buffered characters set by the user is reached (via
ALT-
O
). In this mode, you may Backspace to correct text.
When characters are buffered (not sent to the rig yet),
the Status LED will be flashing.
Immediate Mode
To set the transmitting mode to Immediate:
Press
Alt-O
Enter a 1 for the number of characters
To transmit text, simply type on the keyboard. Sending has
priority, so any time a key is pressed on the keyboard, the rig
will be put into the transmit mode and the character typed will
be sent.
Pressing Enter on the keyboard will send a Carriage
Return
– Line Feed (CR-LF), which will cause the
cursor to move down a line on the receiver
’s screen.
