Adjusting the disc brake
Size 4 and 5 hex keys are required.
Adjusting the braking effect
»
Use the brake lever to check whether both sides of the disc brake
apply the same braking force.
»
Try to push the carrier forward with the brakes applied.
–
The carrier can be pushed forward: Both brakes need to be set more.
–
The carrier breaks away to one side: The opposite side has to
be adjusted more.
–
The brake is correctly adjusted when both wheels lock
completely.
Check the braking effect
To adjust the braking effect you need to follow 3 steps.
1. Adjusting the brake calliper
–
If the brake is not adjusted correctly, adjust the brake calipers
as follows:
2. Smooth running of the rotors
»
Unscrew the black knurled screw on the brake caliper to increase
the braking force.
»
In addition, the outer brake lining can be readjusted using the size 5
hex key.
»
Turn both wheels again and apply the brake to check whether both
wheels come to a simultaneous and abrupt stop.
–
Now only readjust the brake calliper whose wheel will come to
a standstill later.
–
Repeat this procedure until both wheels come to an abrupt and
simultaneous stop when the brake is being applied.
Adjusting the brake calliper can cause the brakes to grind. If this is the case,
centre the brake callipers as follows:
The brake caliper has to be positioned in the center of the rotor between
both brake pads. This ensures a grinding free run.
»
Loosen the two screws on the brake calliper by using a size 5 hex
key. The brake calliper can now be moved sideways.
Screw 2
Knurled screw
Adjusting the
brake pads
»
Align the brake caliper centrally to the rotor.
»
Retighten the two screws of the brake calliper.
»
Release the parking brake and check whether the rotor can rotate
