If the sheet is not f ed even by pressing the
ready/insert button, the sheet
feed roller may be dirty. Clean the feed rollers by following the procedures
described below.
(1) Turn off the printer.
(2) The feed rollers are facing the cork pieces on the sheet feed tray, one on
the left, and two on the right as you face the front cover. Wipe the feed
rollers with a cotton swab dipped in water or with a soft wet rag.
(3) Press down the plate of the feed tray as you rotate the feed rollers. Wipe
each roller thoroughly. When the roller mak es a tur n, the plate of the
sheet feed tray may stay up. However, the plate will come down when
the printer is turned on.
9. Printer makes strange noises when the power is
turned on, and the error lights blink
Has the carriage packing material been removed?

Has a cartridge become dislodged from a cartridge holder?
Open the front co ver and mak e sure the ink car tridges are correctly in-
stalled.
Is there sheet caught between the platen and the print head?
See the section “Clearing sheet jams” and remove the sheet.
10. Mechanism or cartridge error
Are the cartridges correctly installed?
If a car tridge has become dislodged from the holder , a car tridge change
error will occur. Open the front cover and reinstall the cartridge.
Are you using the printer on a level surface?
The printer will not oper ate correctly on a slanted surf ace. Place it on a
level, stable surface.
