Is the printer in a place where it is subject to bumps or vibrations?
Bumps and vibrations can cause mechanical problems. Place the printer in
a place free from vibrations and bumping.
Is the front cover properly closed?
The printer will not operate correctly if the front cover is not closed properly.
Close the front cover all the way.
Is something sitting on top of the printer?
The printer may malfunction when there are things stacked on top or press-
ing it from the side. Do not place anything on top of the printer.
Is there an obstruction in front of the output slot?
If the output slot is obstructed, sheets ejected from the printer can fold and
bend and cause a malfunction. When printing, make sure that the paper
slot is unobstructed and that there is room for paper to be ejected.
Are you receiving erroneous “cartridge broken” messages?
Remove the cartridge and manually advance the foil, then reinsert the car-
tridge and try again. If the message recurs, try a different cartridge.
11. Cartridges are not correctly recognized
Is the bar code on the cartridge dirty?
Clean the bar code.
Is the cartridge installed in the holder with the (A) side up?
Make sure the cartridges are placed in the holder with B side up.
Has a cartridge for a different printer been installed?
Cartridges made by other manufacturers will not work. The Foilfast™ printer
will only accept Foilfast premium foil cartridges.
12 Printing Quality
There may be superfluous foil on the surface of the sheet after foil printing.
Gently wipe the superfluous foil with a Kleenex or soft cloth.
When using sheets with a rough te xture, you may want to check Double
Pass Printing to increase the density of the foil. When Double Pass Printing
is checked, the printer prints each line twice. This check box is grayed out
when Foilfast ClearCovers is selected. In the Def ault setting, the Doub le
Pass printing checkbox is not checked.
Smoother sheets will give you a better print quality.
For printing on comp covers, try changing the Media Type setting from comp
cover HIGH to comp cover LOW, or vice versa.
