8. Sheet is not feeding correctly or not ejecting correctly
from the sheet feeder
Are you using a sheet that is folded or ripped?
The Foilfast printer is compatible only with specific types of cover materials.
Please see page 25, “Identifying Foil Cartridges and Cover Types,” for a list
of compatible cover types.
Are you using a curled sheet?
This will cause sheet jams. The sheet should be curled the opposite way to
flatten it out before it is used.
Are you using sheets with folded or cut corners?
This causes prob lems since the sheet position sensor and sheet length
sensor do not work properly.
Is there a sheet jam?
Clear the jam.
Is the paper feed guide too narrow for the sheet?
Set the feed guide so that there is approximately 0.02” between it and the
sheets themselves.
Are there too many sheets in the sheet feeder?
The sheet feeder can hold up to 10 composition covers or 1 ClearCover.
Is your cover too thick or too thin?
Composition co vers should be betw een 16 –18.5 points thic k (.0016 –
.00185 inches). Clear covers should be between 6.5 – 7.5 points thick (.0065
– .0075 inches). Covers that fall outside the bounds of these thickness ranges
may work in the F oilfast printer, but Powis Parker does not recommend
using them. Covers that f all substantially be yond these thic kness ranges
may damage the printer's feeding mechanism and may void your warranty.
Is there anything blocking the output slot (such as a large pile of printed
sheets)?
This can cause ejection or feed problems.
Make sure nothing is on the output tray.
Have you loosened the sheets sufficiently prior to loading them into the sheet
feeder?
Sheets must f anned at least once bef ore they are loaded into the sheet
feeder. If not, sheets may stick to one another, and cause multiple sheets to
feed into the printer at one time, or other forms of misfeed.
Is the error light blinking?
When the sheet is not f ed (error light is b linking), press the ready/insert
button.
