You may need to check the serial port. The best way (on Windows) is to fire up Device Manager
and see which port is coming and going when you press and release the Reset button. Then
Make sure that's what Pronterface is trying to connect with. You can type in the COM port field.
Parts are not sticking to the bed
● Ensure that the Z height is correct, and that it is level left-to-right.
● If the bed tape is scratched up, it may be time to change the tape.
● If people have touched the bed very much, it will get finger oils on it and the parts will not
stick well.
○ You can sometimes freshen the bed up with acetone.
○ You can simply re-tape the bed instead of using acetone.
● Some parts simply don’t have enough area on the bottom layer to stick well. See below:
My small parts tend to get knocked loose during printing
First, see above for parts not sticking in general. But if all of that is in order:
Thin Parts
Some parts have almost no contact with the bed. If they also don’t require much support,
then there maybe so little bed contact that they come loose or tip over during printing,
when they become taller.
Solution: Use a Brim (Support tab - choose Normal with Brim. A .5 mm thick brim of 5-10
mm width usually helps a lot.)
If it is a part you have designed, you can add one or two semicircles of one layer
thickness to opposite corners (for example) to provide some additional area. These
“mouse ears” are easy to peel off after printing.
This also helps prevent corners peeling up, if the ears are made large enough.
