WHICH WATER TO USE IN THE
BOILER
Vaporetto Smart 100_B / Smart 100_T has
been designed to function with normal
medium tap water between 8°f and 20°f. If
the tap water contains a lot of limescale use a
mix composed of 50% tap water and 50%
demineralised water which is widely available
to purchase. Do not use pure demineralised
water.
Warning: check the hardness of the water at
the technical office at your local council or
the local water supplier.
If you only use tap water, you can reduce the
formation of limescale by using the special
Kalstop (PAEU0094) anti-limescale product,
distributed by Polti, and available for sale at
all major domestic-appliance stores or online
at www.polti.com.
Never use distilled water, rain water or water
containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes),
or water produced by other domestic
appliances, by water softeners or filter jugs.
Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or
limescale removing substances, etc.
1. PREPARING FOR USE
1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging,
checking that the product is whole and that
all the parts are included.
1.2 Turn the tank cap (1) and fill the tank
completely with water (2), making sure that it
does not overflow. The tank is removable and
can also be detached to fill it easily under a
tap (3).
This operation must always be carried out
with the power cable disconnected from the
mains.
Thanks to the auto refill system, it is not
necessary to wait for the appliance to cool
and the tank can be filled as needed.
1.3 Close the tank cap (1).
1.4 Insert the steam lock of the flexible hose
(4). The steam gun has a safety button that
prevents accidental start of steam delivery by
children or people unfamiliar with how the
appliance works. To prevent accidental
steam delivery push the button to the OFF
position (4). To restart steam delivery, push
the button to the ON position (4).
1.5 Connect the cable plug to an earthed
power supply of the correct voltage(5).
Completely unwind the power cable before
plugging it into the mains and before use, and
always use the appliance with the power
cable completely unwound.
1.6 Press the ON/OFF switch (6). The power
indicator light A will come on.
1.7 Wait for the “steam ready” indicator light
C to come on (approx. 2 minutes).Vaporetto
is now ready for use.
2. CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES
2.1 To attach the extension hose to the
flexible hose and the floor brush, simply
insert until you hear the button click
indicating that the accessory is locked in
place (9). To release the accessories simply
hold the button down and separate the
components (9). Before using the
accessories, make sure that they are firmly in
place.
2.2 To connect the small brush, the steam
concentrator or the brushes to the flexible
hose or to the extension hoses insert the
accessories and then turn them until they are
locked in place (10)(11).
3. STEAM ADJUSTMENT
You can optimise the steam flow by means of
the steam adjustment knob (7). You can
increase the steam flow by turning the
control in an anti-clockwise direction. Turning
it in a clockwise direction reduces the steam
flow. Here are some suggestions for the
choice of steam flow level:
• Maximum level: for encrusted dirt, stains,
sanitising, grease.
• Medium level: for carpets, rugs, glass, tiles
etc.
• Minimum level: for vaporising plants and
cleaning delicate fabrics, upholstery,
wallpaper, parquet, laminate, etc.
WARNING: When first operating steam,
there may be some drops of water mixed
with the steam due to temperature
imbalances.
Direct the first steam jet onto a cloth for a
few seconds.
WARNING: In case of excessive humidity,
reduce the quantity of steam.
The “steam ready” C (8) indicator light
comes on and goes off during use. This
means that the electrical resistance is
working to maintain constant pressure: it is
a normal phenomenon and you can continue
with your cleaning operations.
