Section 5: Cleaning and Maintenance
This section provides information on how to clean and maintain the BPAP unit. The cleaning and maintenance
described in this section should be regularly carried out.
WARNING: To avoid electrical shock, always unplug the BPAP unit before cleaning and be sure that it is
dry before reconnecting.
WARNING: DO NOT immerse the BPAP into any fluids or allow any liquid to enter the enclosure, inlet filter,
or any openings
5.1 Cleaning the Cabinet
Disconnect the power, tubing, mask and humidifier tank. Wipe the exterior cabinet of the BPAP unit with a cloth
slightly dampened with water and a mild detergent.
Allow the BPAP unit dry completely before plugging in the power cord.
5.2 Cleaning and Replacing the Inlet Filter
The gray sponge filter should be cleaned at least once every two weeks under normal usage and replaced with a
new one every six months. Do not knead while washing.
NOTE:
Clean this filter at least once per week or more frequently if operated in a dusty environment. Also the
replace time should be shorten accordingly.
5.3 Cleaning Tubing and Mask
Cleaning the tubing and mask is an important daily work.
(1) Disconnect the flexible tubing from the BPAP unit. Gently wash the flexible tubing daily in a solution of warm
water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly, air-dry.
(2) For details on cleaning your mask and accessories, refer to the instructions packaged with the accessories.
5.4 Cleaning Humidifier Tank
Disconnect the power, take out the humidifier tank.
Wash the humidifier tank in water using mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly, air- dry.
CAUTION:
Operating the BPAP unit with a dirty filter may keep the device from working properly
and damage the device.
CAUTION:
Never install a wet filter into the BPAP unit. We recommend that you clean the filter in the
morning and alternate using the spare sponge filters provided with the unit to ensure enough drying time for the
cleaned filter.
NOTE:
Do not use bleach, chlorine-, alcohol- or aromatic-based solutions (including all scented oils),
moisturizing or antibacterial soaps to clean the tubing or the device. These solutions may
cause hardening and reduce the life of the product.
The water temperature for wash should not over 50°C
Do not hang the tubing in direct sunlight as the tubing may harden over time and eventually crack
