Chapter 3

Installing the Board in a Sun PCI Workstation

This section explains how to unpack and install the
Md5/PCI board in a Sun PCI workstation.

To unpack the board

Remove the Md5/PCI board from its package and
protective sleeve, being careful to guard against static
discharge to the board.

• Wear an antistatic wrist strap.

• Always keep one hand touching a metal surface to

provide grounding.

• If you can’t perform a step with one hand, use both and

return one occasionally to the bare metal surface.

If you do not properly install the board, you may be
unable to restart your computer. Read and follow the
procedures in this section carefully.

Static electricity can damage the board. When touching
the board or parts of the motherboard, take these
precautions:
