Using Stream Direct
Use the St r eam Di r ect modes when you want to hea r the
t r uest p ossible r e pr oduction of a sou r ce. All unnecessa r y
signal pr ocessing is by p assed, and you’ r e left with the
p u r e analog o r digital sound sou r ce (see Stream direct
with different input signal formats
on p age 129).
1 Set the operation selector switch to RCV.
2 While listening to a source, press AUTO/DIRECT
(AUTO SURROUND/STREAM DIRECT) to select the
mode you want.
Check the digital fo r mat indicato r s in the f r ont p anel
dis p lay to see how the sou r ce is being pr ocessed.

AUTO SURROUND
– See
Auto playback
on p age 35.

DIRECT
– Sou r ces a r e hea r d acco r ding to the
settings made in the Su rr ound Setu p (s p eake r
setting, channel level, s p eake r distance, acoustic
calib r ation EQ, and X-cu r ve), as well as with dual
mono, the in p ut attenuato r , and any sound delay and
hi-bit/hi-sam p ling (SC-LX71 only) settings. You will
hea r sou r ces acco r ding to the numbe r of channels in
the signal.

PURE DIRECT
– Analog and 2 channel PCM sou r ces
a r e hea r d without any digital pr ocessing.

Selecting MCACC presets
• Default setting: MEMORY 1
If you have calib r ated you r system fo r diffe r ent listening
p ositions

, you can switch between settings to suit the
kind of sou r ce you’ r e listening to and whe r e you’ r e sitting
(fo r exam p le, watching movies f r om a sofa, o r p laying a
video game close to the TV).
1 Set the operation selector switch to RCV.
2 While listening to a source, press MCACC.
P r ess r e p eatedly to select one of the six MCACC pr esets

o r to switch calib r ation off. See Data Management on
p age 53 to check and manage you r cu rr ent settings.
Choosing the input signal
On this r eceive r , it is p ossible to switch the in p ut signals
fo r the diffe r ent in p uts as desc r ibed below.

1 Set the operation selector switch to RCV.
2 Press SIGNAL SEL (SIGNAL SELECT) to select the
input signal corresponding to the source component.
Each pr ess cycles th r ough the o p tions as follows:
• AUTO – This is the default setting. The r eceive r
selects the fi r st available signal in the following o r de r :

– Selects an analog signal.

DIGITAL
– Selects an o p tical o r coaxial digital signal.

fo r mats. The com p atible signals via the HDMI te r minals a r e: Dolby Digital, DTS, WMA 9 P r o, PCM (32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz
sam p ling f r equencies), Dolby T r ueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-EXPRESS, DTS-HD Maste r Audio, SACD and DVD Audio (including 192 kHz).
With othe r digital signal fo r mats, set to ANALOG (the MULTI CH IN , TUNER and PHONO ).
• You may get digital noise when a LD o r CD p laye r com p atible with DTS is p laying an analog signal. To pr event noise, make the pr o p e r digital
connections ( p age 23) and set the signal in p ut to DIGITAL .
• Some DVD p laye r s don’t out p ut DTS signals. Fo r mo r e details, r efe r to the inst r uction manual su pp lied with you r DVD p laye r .
