Stands for Audio Video Interleave, a

file format where audio and video
data are stored in alternate blocks. AVI is Microsoft's generic format for
digital video in Windows. (

Interleave)
Broadcast quality 1/2 inch video cassette format developed by Sony. This
system has continued to be developed over the years to offer models for the
industrial and professional markets.
Basic Input Output System. In the BIOS, the basic system settings of a PC
are stored, e.g. data about the memory, hard disks, disk drives etc.
The smallest unit of information in the memory of a computer. Among other
things, bits are used to store the color values of the pixels in an image. The
greater the number of bits used for each pixel, the higher the number of
available colors:
s
1-bit color depth:
each pixel is either black or white.
s
4-bit color depth:
each pixel can be any one of 16 colors or scales of gray.
s
8-bit color depth:
each pixel can be any one of 256 colors or scales of gray.
s
16-bit color depth:
each pixel can be any one of 65,536 colors.
s
24-bit color depth: each pixel can be any one of 16.7 million colors.

CD-ROMs are mass storage media for digital data.
That quality of colors which embraces both hue and saturation. White, black,
and grays have no chroma.
Rate at which individual commands are processed in a processor. The higher
the
&
clock frequency, the quicker the commands are processed.
Number of bits delivering the color information for each pixel.
In the black-and-white operation 1-bit color depth means 21=2 colors, 8-bit
color depth supply 28=256 colors, 24-bit color depth 16,777,216 (=224)
colors.
Composite video encodes all image information in one signal.
A cut is the switch from one camera angle to another.
Digital Audio Tape. A format for storing music on magnetic tape, developed
in the mid-1980s by Sony and Philips.
The data transfer rate or data transmission rate is the amount of compressed
data transferred to the storage device per second.
