Checking the spark advance
- To check the spark advance, use the stroboscopie
lamp with the induction clamp connected to the spark
plug feeder cable.
- Connect the induction clamp paying attention to the
polarity (the arrow stamped on the clamp must face
the spark plug).
- Place the lamp selector in the central position (1
spark = 1 crankshaft revolution as in 2-stroke en-
gines).
- Start the engine and check that the lamp works
properly, and that the revolution counter can also
read high engine speeds (e.g. 8,000 rpm).
- If flashing or rpm reading instabilities are noted (e.g.
halved values), increase the resistive load on the
spark plug feeder cable (10-15 kΩ in series at HV
cable).
- Remove the plastic cover from the slotted hole on the
flywheel cover.
- Using the lamp flash phase shift corrector, align the
reference mark on the flywheel cover with the level on
the water pump drive. Read the degrees of advance
on the stroboscopie lamp.
- Check the revolving speed corresponding to the
degrees of advance in the tables below.
- If any discrepancy is found, check the pick-up and the
control unit feeders (positive-negative). If necessary,
replace the control unit.
- An unprogrammed control unit prevents the engine
from exceeding 2,000 rpm.
- A programmed control unit allows the engine to
revolve within prescribed limits.
125 cc engine:
180 cc engine:
from 10° ± 1 ° at 2,000 rpm
t o 3 4 ° ± 1° at 6,000 rpm
from 10° ± 1° at 2,000 rpm
to 32° ± 1 ° at 6,000 rpm
Comprobación del avance del encendido
- Para comprobar el avance del encendido es necesa-
rio utilizar la lámpara estroboscópica con pinza de
inducción conectada al cable de alimentación bujía.
- Conectar la pinza de inducción respetando las
polaridades (la flecha estampada en la pinza debe
morar hacia la bujía).
- Predisponer el selector de la lámpara en la posición
central (1 chispa = 1 giro del cigüeñal como en los
motores de 2 tiempos).
- Arrancar el motor y verificar que la lámpara funcione
correctamente y el cuentarrevoluciones consiga leer
también a altas revoluciones (ej. 8000 rpm).
- Si se detecta inestabilidad de flash o de lectura de
giros (por ejemplo valores reducidos de mitad), au-
mentar la carga resistiva en la linea de alimentación
bujía (10 ÷ 15 ΚΩ en serie al cable de A.T.).
- Quitar la tapa de plástico del ojal presente en la tapa
del magneto.
- Actuando en el corrector de desfase del flash de la
lámpara, hacer coincidir la referencia en la tapa del
magneto con el nivel de la toma de movimiento de la
bomba del agua. Leer los grados de avance indica-
dos por la lámpara estroboscópica.
- Verificar que correspondan los grados de avance de
encendido con el regimen de rotación indicados en la
tabla.
- Si se detectan anomalías proceder con el control del
pick up y de la alimentación de la centralita (positivo-
negativo) y eventualménte sustituir la centralita.
- La centralita virgen impide la rotación del motor a
mas de 2000 rpm.
- La centralita programada permite la rotación del
motor dentro del límite prescrito.
