Example 5:
The data line
80
00
*
n

cmneqp1
assigns an ACCULINK event that can be generated by more than one class of ACCULINK
devices, as indicated by the ‘*’ character in field 3. If a switch generates the event, it will be
mapped to the NMS alert group swtch-cmneqp1. If a multiplexer generates the event, it will be
mapped to the NMS alert group mux-cmneqp1.
Viewing or Editing the EToAMapping File
NOTE
Make sure that you have a backup copy of the EToAMapping file on
your disk before editing or viewing this file.
To edit or view the EToAMapping File, perform the following steps:
1. Log in as root.
2. Change directory to the /usr/nms/RNMS/ANM/data/backup directory.
3. Open the EToAMapping file for edit using a UNIX text editor, such as vi.
4. Set tabstops to 4. For example, if you are using vi, do the following:
TYPE: :set tabstop=4
PRESS: Return
When editing a data line, do not change fields 1 (Major Code), 2 (Minor Code), 4 (Alert Event), or
5 (Alert Class). The Major Code and Minor Code fields are determined by the device and cannot
be changed by the user. The Alert Event and Alert Class fields already contain the only valid
values for each particular event, and therefore must not be changed.
To change the alert group to which an ACCULINK event is assigned, edit field six. For example,
to move the alarm 80.00 (CPU Diagnostic) from the alert group cmneqpl to usralml, change the
line from this
80
00
*
n
a
cmneqpl
to this
80
00
*
n
a
usralml
If you change the alert group assignment for an alarm, do not forget to change the assignment for
the matching alarm clear. Also, since events that are assigned to the same alert group are clustered
together in the file, you will want to move the lines that you reassign to the correct place in the file.
