Starting the engine
1.
Attach the spark plug cable to the spark plug. Make sure the metal eyelet on the end of
the spark plug cable is securely fastened over the metal tip of the spark plug.
2.
Make sure that both the auger and the wheels are in the disengaged (released)
position.
3.
Move the throttle to the FAST position. Insert the ignition key into the opening. Make
sure it clicks into place. Do not attempt to turn the key.
NB:
The engine will not start unless the key is fully inserted in the ignition lock.
Electric start
Check that the power supply is a two-wire grounded system. Ask a qualified electrician if you
are not sure.
WARNING
The electric starter is equipped with a grounded two-wire power plug and requires
230 volts AC mains. It must be used only with a properly grounded two-pin outlet to avoid
electric shock. If your home electrical system is grounded, but a two-hole extension cord is
not available, do not use your snow thrower's electric starter. Follow all instructions carefully
before operating the electric starter. If the above conditions are met, proceed as follows:
1)
Plug the extension cord into the outlet on the engine. Plug the other end of the
extension cord into a 230 volt, grounded, AC outlet.
2)
Turn the choke knob to the FULL choke position (to start the engine by cable).
NB:
If the engine is already hot, place the choke in the OFF position.
3)
Press the primer bulb to restart a hot engine, making sure to cover the vent hole in the
centre of the bulb when pressing.
NB:
Do NOT use the primer to restart a hot engine
after a short shutdown.
4)
Press the start button to start the engine.
5)
When the engine starts, release the start button.
6)
While the engine is warming up, slowly turn the choke to the OFF position. If the
engine fails, quickly turn the choke back to FULL and then slowly to the OFF position
again.
7)
When unplugging the extension cord, always remove the plug from the power outlet
by unplugging the cord from the opposite end of the snow thrower.
