Fuel safety
•
Be careful, fuel is highly flammable.
•
Use approved containers.
•
Check the fuel supply before each use and take into account that fuel expands
when the engine gets hot or the machine is exposed to the sun.
•
Always fill with fuel outdoors and with caution.
•
Never remove the fuel cap or fill with fuel while the engine is running. Let the
engine cool down first.
•
Do not smoke during refuelling.
•
After refuelling, replace the cap securely and wipe up any spilled fuel.
•
Never store the machine with fuel in the tank or store the fuel inside a building
where the vapours can reach an open flame.
Safety during storage
•
Always follow the user manual instructions for long-term storage.
•
Never store the machine with fuel in the tank in a building where there are
sources of ignition such as water heaters, hot canons, tumble dryers, etc.
•
To reduce the risk of fire, keep the trimmer free of grass, leaves and other
material.
•
Allow the engine to cool down before storing the machine in an enclosed space.
Safety during repair, maintenance and adjustment
•
Stop the engine after hitting a foreign object. Remove the lead from the spark
plug and keep it away from the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Inspect the trimmer thoroughly for any damage. If damage is found, the
machine must be repaired by a professional before restarting and operating.
•
Stop the engine before cleaning, repairing or inspecting the machine. Make
sure that all moving parts have stopped moving. Allow the engine to cool,
remove the spark plug lead and move it away from the spark plug.
•
Never attempt to make adjustments while the engine is running except where
specifically recommended to do so by the manufacturer.
•
Keep the grass trimmer in safe operating condition. Regularly check that all
joints are tight.
•
When carrying out a service or repair, do not tilt or turn over the machine
unless specifically instructed to do so by the manufacturer. Service and repair
can be performed while the machine is in the upright position. Some
