6.14 LMI bypass of SPX424CDH –  

 

CAUTION!! 

A  Load  Moment  Indicator  (LMI)  system  prevents  the  machinery  tipping  and 
overloading. 

 
 
The LMI bypass key switch enables the operator to temporarily ignore the load charts and overcome 
the limits set by the software for max 1 minute even without having the Level-1 password. 
 

 

CAUTION!!! 
Pay the utmost attention during this operation. 
The LMI bypass system can only be used to retrieve the machinery safety 
conditions. 
During bypass operations, the operator is fully responsible for the 
machinery. 
The manufacturer declines any responsibility arising from operating the 
crane without complying with the above-mentioned instructions. 
It is good practice to pull out the key and give it to the site manager 
instead of leaving it to the operator’s availability. 

 

 
 
 
 
Turn the (unstable) red key switch the machinery is equipped with. 
From this moment on, the operator has 30 seconds to go to the control panel 
and start the operation. 
 
 
 

 
Keep the (unstable) horn push button pressed throughout the operation, which can last 
max  1  minute.  Operations  are  only  possible  from  the  control  panel  and  not  from  the 
radio remote control. 
 
 
 
Use of the bypass is also possible from the computer aboard the machinery. Bypasses controlled from 
the screen are described in paragraph “PAGE 16 BYPASS ENABLING” page 56. 
 
When the bypass has been enabled by the software, the operation time is equal to 2 minutes. Once 
this  time  elapsed,  use  of  the  machinery  under  unsafe  conditions  is  only  possible  by  re-enabling  the
