This chapter describes the various methods of reception that can be adopted on the facsimile machine:
-
Manual reception, which requires you to be present when a facsimile or telphone call is received. In this
case, the telephone takes priority over the facsimile machine.
-
Manual reception with the fax/phone switch enabled, which distinguishes between the two types of call
(facsimile or telephone).
-
Automatic reception, which enables documents to be received automatically, even if you are out. In this
way, you can receive important documents even outside office hours.
-
Polling reception, which enables you to receive a previously stored document even if the remote user
in possession of the document is not present.
-
Reception reply storing, which enables documents to be received when there is no paper or ink left, or
if the paper has jammed.
The documents will be stored in a specific location of the memory and will automatically be printed when
the facsimile is restored to normal operation.
Remember that any of the procedures described in this chapter can be interrupted at any time by pressing
STOP. Note that if you press STOP during a reception operation, communication will be interrupted.
If no data is entered for two minutes while carrying out a procedure, the procedure is aborted and the
facsimile machine returns to stand-by mode.
If the printing paper gets jammed during reception, the facsimile machine emits a beep and the message
“PAPER ERROR (XX)” appears on the first line and “PRESS CLEAR” appears on the second line of the
display.
CHANGING FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL RECEPTION AND VICE VERSA
The facsimile machine is set initially for automatic reception. You can, however, choose the reception method
before starting an operation, by following the procedure described below.
