SETUP programs

PC-500 user’s manual

Running SETUP over the console port

1. To run SETUP make sure you have established a communications link

between a keyboard and monitor with the PC-500 or a serial communi-
cations link between the PC-500 and your PC. See the Console devices
chapter for more information on these two communication links.

2. Enter:

PC500 C:\> SETUP

Note

If you are not booting from the SSD0 drive, the drive designator may
differ.

Note

You may also enter SETUP after the memory test and before the sys-
tem has booted by pressing the “backspace” key followed by the “S” key.

3. The system will display the PC-500 setup parameters and available

options. Select the option by pressing the space bar until the correct
information appears, then press <ENTER>. Press <ESC> twice if you
want to exit SETUP without saving your responses.

Options having an * are default settings.

Serial Console on COM1:

ENABLED*
DISABLED

WARNING!

Disabling the serial console when there is no video monitor
present will stop further serial console communication with
the system after the system resets. Once disabled, you may
re-enable the serial console by running SETUP. To run
SETUP, do one of the following steps:

Remove the USESETUP jumper, reboot and run SETUP

n

Install a video monitor, reboot and run SETUP. You

have elected to DISABLE the serial console.
