Cleaver blade
U
se great care when working near or handling the cleaver blade! The diamond tip is “
razor edg
e” sharp and can
easily cut through skin or get damaged by hard objects. Never touch the blade by hand or with any type of tool!
The cleaver blade suspension system is extremely fragile; do not subject the cleaver blade or blade suspension
system to external force as it might break. A broken blade suspension system will not be covered under warranty.
Cleaning the cleaver blade
The diamond edge of the cleave blade should be inspected daily for debris and/or damage which
may result in impaired cleave performance. The cleave blade should be cleaned using a cotton-
tipped round applicator wetted in IPA.
Important! Before starting, make sure to disconnect the AUTOCLEAVER
TM
from its power supply.
Wipe both sides of the blade in a back-to-front rotating direction of the round cotton-tip, towards
and over the diamond edge, using very light pressure only. Never touch the edge of the cleaver
blade with any hard or metal object.
Changing cleaver blade position
During cleave, only a small portion of the cleave blade edge is used to scribe the fiber. Eventually this portion of the blade
will wear out. The blade can then be repositioned to a new unused section. The increments of the blade will automatically
be done according to the preset number of cleave (user defined in
Setup menu
), or it may be done manually by the user.
When the current diamond position is worn out and you want to manually raise the blade, raise it to a new position with
the function
“
New blade position
”
under the
Service
drop-down menu.
While the lifetime of a given section of the blade can be very long (greater than 1,000 cleaves), it is also very easy to
damage the blade due to excessive lateral stress (stress perpendicular to the edge of the blade). The most common
source to this is the result of the cleave tension being set too low, the fiber will then slide sideways across the edge of
the blade.
Replacing the cleaver blade
Please contact your distributor or service agent for more information.
Verifying & calibrating the load cell
The load cell calibration should be checked every twelve (12) months to ensure that an accurate cleave tension is applied
and good cleave performance is maintained. An instruction for verifying and calibrating the load cell comes with the
required calibration table. Please contact your distributor or service agent for more information.
