RAID Controller Face Plate LEDs

Battery Backup Unit

The RAID Controller includes a Battery Backup Unit (BBU) that maintains
memory content in case of an AC power failure. The main purpose of the BBU is
to maintain the memory during brief interruptions in power, however, it is
capable of sustaining memory content for several hours depending on the type
and size of the memory.

The BBU has circuitry to charge and monitor the battery pack. It includes a
“gas-gage” to monitor the charge state of the battery pack. The battery pack
should be reconditioned prior to the first use. Follow the procedures under
installation to recondition a new battery.

RAID Controller Face Plate LEDs

PWR

Indicates power is applied.

RDY

Indicates that the controller has successfully booted.

BBU FAULT

Indicates that the BBU battery is not capable of backing up the
memory for the specified period of time.

CACHE DIRTY

Indicates that the controller contains host cached data that has still not
been written to the drives.

NOT RDY

Indicates that the controller is either within boot process, in reset, or
dead.

PRTNR FAIL

Indicates that the other controller (partner) has failed.

HOST 0

Indicates Fibre Channel host channel 0 activity.

HOST 1

Indicates Fibre Channel host channel 1 activity.

DRV 0

Indicates device Fibre Channel 0 activity.

DRV 1

Indicates device Fibre Channel 1 activity.
