NOTE: The process communication uses the master protocols and the upper level
communication uses the slave protocols. IEC 60870-5-103 over Ethernet is a proprietary
protocol developed by NR .
1.2 Functions

Information synthesis and transmission
According to the engineering requirements, RCS-9698G/H can synthesize several signals to
one signal, and send this synthetic signal to the control center that is appointed by the user.

Storage and query of remote control records.

Realization and management of communication with NCC and DCS.

Various communication protocols are supported, e.g. IEC60870-5-101, DNP3.0,
IEC60870-5-104, CDT, MODBUS, SC1801 etc. Able to develop programs for new protocols to
meet the requirements of the user.

Automatic clock synchronization and unified system timing can be realized via GPS. Able to
receive and deal with IRIG-B signals, pulse per second ( PPS ) signals, timing messages and
SNTP clock synchronization.

Monitoring the communication status of the IED s.

Multi-scheme for dual monitoring and automatic switchover.

LCD display to view real database, to set run scheme and parameters.

Online maintenance and monitoring via network by convenient tools:
RCS-9798 Configuration Tool and RCS-9798 Debugging Tool .

Self-diagnosis.
RCS-9698G/H can monitor its software and hardware during ope ration. Alarm signals will be
issued if any software and hardware errors occur. At the same time, RCS-9698G/H will lock
itself to avoid unwanted operation.
When errors occur in the master side of RCS-9698H , besides the master side locks itself, the
slave side can run in master mode automatically, and then issue signals to ensure the
stability and the reliability.
