Process 8: MTA Delivers Message Status
The MTA in the recipient’s domain transfers the Delivered status to the Async Gateway in the
recipient’s domain.
Process 9: Async Gateway Transfers Message Status
The Async Gateway in the recipient’s domain transfers the Delivered status message to the Async
Gateway in the sender’s domain.
Process 10: Async Gateway Transfers Message Status
The Async Gateway in the recipient’s domain transfers the Delivered status message through the
modem connection to the Async Gateway in the sender’s domain.
Process 11: MTA transfers Message Status
The MTA in the sender’s domain transfers the Delivered status message to the POA in the sender’s
domain.
Process 12: POA Updates Database
The POA in the sender’s domain updates the message database with the Delivered status.
GroupWise Client to Async Gateway Message Delivery
In Remote mode, the GroupWise Windows client gives users the ability to access their mailboxes
when working away from the main GroupWise system. Each remote GroupWise user has a Master
Mailbox (on the network) and a Remote mailbox. Any work performed in Remote mode is done
offline by the user in his or her remote mailbox, then later exchanged with his or her Master
Mailbox at home. Communication is enabled through the Async Gateway and a modem
connection.
