Installing the Network Wide Backup & Restore
optional application
Use this procedure to install the Network Wide Backup & Restore software.
Requirements
Read this requirements section and the entire procedure through once before
starting the procedure.
Before you start, you must
• unmount the CD-ROM drive and remove any CD-ROM from the drive
• have a copy of the Network Wide Backup & Restore CD-ROM
• install the INM software prior to the Backup & Restore software
Action
Step Action
1 Insert the Backup & Restore CD-ROM into the appropriate drive.
2 Log in to the workstation as the root user. Enter the root user ID and password
in the login dialog.
3 Open a console window and change to the
/tmp
directory. Enter
cd /tmp
↵
4 Create a new directory to store the CD-ROM installation files. Enter
mkdir /cdrom
↵
5 Mount the CD-ROM in the directory created. Enter
mount /dev/dsk/<device name> /cdrom
↵
where
device name is the name of the CD-ROM drive. For example c1t2d0.
6 Create a new user directory to store the CD-ROM installation files. Enter
mkdir /tmp/br_install
↵
7 Change to the new directory. Enter
cd /tmp/br_install
↵
8 Save and restore the archive of the files to a storage location. Enter
tar xf /cdrom/install.tar
↵
9 Run the installation script. Enter
./br_install
