COMPONENTS
This list is for specific components in an assembly,
where maintenance cannot be performed with the
assembly in the full up and/or locked position. See
Table
2-1. After completing the steps required,
continue on with Steps 5-9 on the previous page.
Workheads and Rail
Lift
Hydraulic Gravity

Below
1) Place the machine in the TRAVEL mode. This raises the
workheads to allow insertion of the lockup devices.
2) Place the lockup switches for the workheads (includes guide
rollers) in the LOCK position. Make sure that the lockups
have locked.
3) Turn the IGNITION switch to the OFF position.
4) Turn the Battery Disconnect Switch to the OFF position.
5) Close, secure, and tag the disconnect switch box.
6) A secondary lockup key, located on the proximity flag
bracket on the side of the workhead, is then inserted into the
hole on the top of the hammer side plate.
NOTE
This cuts off hydraulic pressure or flow to the workhead and
guide roller directional control valves and prevents the “drifting”
down of the workheads.
Assembly Under Maintenance: Secure as Follows:
RAIL CLAMP ASSEMBLY
Rail Lift Up/Down Cylinder Lower the Rail Clamp Assembly to the rail.
Rail Lift Spotting Cylinders Lower the Rail Clamp Assembly to the rail.
Rail Clamp Lockup Cylinder (Air) Lower the Rail Clamp Assembly to the rail.
Rail Clamp In/Out Cylinder
Lower the Rail Clamp Assembly to the rail and place a support under the rail
clamp lever.
TIE GRIPPER ASSEMBLY
Tie Gripper Open/Close Cylinder Extend the Tie Gripper/Exchanger Workhead all the way out on the side being
serviced. Lower the Exchanger workhead. Tilt the gripper head and place a
support under the gripper jaws.
TIE EXCHANGER ASSEMBLY
Lockup Cylinder (Air) Lower the assembly to the rail.
