Subsystem Identifiers (SIDs)

SIDs are the numbers and names used to identify the part of the controller that 
has a fault (engine timing actuator, brake relay diagonal 1, etc.). The Society of 
Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the American Trucking Association (ATA) have 
developed a standardized list of SID descriptions, which are identified by a 
number and a SAE SID description.
