The user name is admin. The password is the one that you set the first time that you
logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home page displays.
4. Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > VLAN / Bridge Settings.
The VLAN / Bridge Settings page displays.
For the router (Base) and each satellite, the ports display on the page:
•
Blue: The ports are connected to devices that are turned on.
•
Gray: The ports are either not connected or are connected to devices that are
not turned on.
5. In either the Base (router) or Satellite section, for the Ethernet port that you want to
change, select a VLAN profile from the VLAN Profile menu.
6. Click the Apply button.
Your settings are saved.
Port mode: Trunk mode or Access mode
By default, all Ethernet ports (the WAN port and the LAN ports) on the router and any
satellites function in Trunk mode, but they can also function in Access mode:
•
Trunk mode. If a port must forward tagged packets with a specific VLAN tag only,
assign Trunk mode to the port, add a VLAN profile with the VLAN tag (that is, the
VLAN ID; see Add a new VLAN profile on page 78), and assign the port to the new
VLAN profile. Packets that include tags other than the specific VLAN tag are dropped
by the port.
•
Access mode. If a port connects
only
to a client or end device, you can assign Access
mode to the port.
By default, all Ethernet ports are assigned to the Default VLAN profile and function in
Trunk mode. However, for any port that is assigned to the Default VLAN profile, no real
difference exists between Trunk mode and Access mode. You can connect a modem,
gateway, client device, or end device to such a port. That is, for a port that is assigned
