Onboard RAID Controller
The workstation is equipped with an Onboard RAID Controller to configure a RAID system.
Use the LSI Software RAID Configuration Utility installed in Onboard RAID Controller to configure the RAID
system.
Note
Use two hard disk drives of the same capacity and performance.
The Onboard RAID Controller supports RAID0 (striping) and RAID1 (mirroring).
(1) RAID0
In RAID0, data is distributed to hard disk drives and recorded. The mode is called "striping".
RAID0 allows all hard disk drives to be accessed collectively; accordingly, it can provide the best disk access
performance.
Note
RAID0 does not have data redundancy. If a hard disk drive failure occurs, data cannot be
recovered.
(2) RAID1
In RAID1 level, data saved in a hard disk drive is written to another hard disk drive without change. The mode is
called "mirroring".
When data is written onto a single hard disk drive, the same data is written onto another hard disk drive at the
same time. If either of the hard disk drives fails, the other hard disk drive containing the same data can
substitute for the failed hard disk drive. Thus the system can continue to operate without interruption.
