8.4 IP Address Configuration

The LS8500-4 can automatically obtain a network address using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Proto-
col), or it can use a manually configured IP Address. If DHCP is enabled, then the LS8500-4 will reports its IP
Address as 0.0.0.0 until an address is acquired, at which time it will report the address obtained from the
DHCP server. This process usually only takes a few seconds, but the time will depend on the DHCP server's
responsiveness. If the IP Address stays at 0.0.0.0 for more than 5 minutes, this means that the LS8500-4
was unable to acquire a network address, and you should either use a manual IP Address, or contact your
network administrator to determine the cause.
