Repair Procedures
Replacing the Thermal Probe
Required Items:

Thermal probe (part no. 401129)

Screwdriver
„
Masking tape
„
Electrical grounding strap
„
Cable tie
To remove the thermal probe:

Press the power switch to the
OFF
(O) position, then unplug the power cord.

Remove the upper white door seal and loosen—but do not remove—the screws
just inside the Drier door (behind the door stop) (see Figure 4.1 on page 4-2).

Pull out and remove the front cover (see Figure 4.3 on page 4-3).

Unhook, remove, and set aside the plenum hold-down springs, then disconnect
the thermal cut-out wires (see Figure 6.4 on page 6-12). Separate the plenum
from the filter, then remove the filter.

Open the door and remove the top four trays. Next, remove the acorn nut, bolts,
and washers that secure the tray brackets to the side access panel (see Figure 6.1
on page 6-4). Save all fasteners. Finally, remove the side access panel.

Locate the two cable tie mounts inside the access panel. Cut the cable ties that
secure the probe cable to the two cable tie mounts.

Disconnect the thermal probe cable connector (wires 27, 29, and 30) from J3 on
the control panel PCB (see the appropriate wiring diagram in Appendix A).
CAUTION
ESD-sensitive equipment. Use appropriate precautions to prevent ESD.
WARNING
Electrical shock hazard when the front panel is removed.
NOTE

In Model 44, the left and right plenum assemblies are mirror images of one another. For
example, the thermal cut-out on the right plenum assembly is located on the back, while
that on the left is visible from the front.
CAUTION
Avoid damaging the HEPA filter. Holes, tears, and rips adversely affect filter function.
NOTE
#
The stud (see Figure 6.1 on page 6-4) is set into the frame and cannot be removed. Remove
only the acorn nut and washer.
