Machine Operation
FIG. AA
SHANK BLADE INSERTION
Shank blades (Figure AA) do not require a cutting head. Insert desired shank blade into
cutting head holder. Secure with cutting head clip.
BLADE INSERTION OR BLADE CHANGING (FIGURE BB)
Using a 3/4’’ socket wrench, loosen bolts on cutting head. Quantity of bolts will very
depending upon cutting head size. Insert blade into the cutting head to back of notch
(Figure CC). Tighten
fi
rmly. Note: A cordless 3/8’’ drive impact wrench will speed up this
process, especially out on the job.
BLADE SETTING
•
Proper blade size and placement, depending on material and sub-
fl
oor type, af-
fects performance.
•
For better results during dif
fi
cult removal applications use a smaller blade.
•
Start with a narrow blade, then increase blade size to optimize cutting pass. Nar-
rower blades work easier than wider blades and usually clean the
fl
oor better.
Wider is not always better or faster.
•
Normally bevel on blade is up for concrete (Figure CC). Bevel down for wood (Fig-
ure DD) and shoe blades (Figure EE) for soft sub-
fl
oors.
•
KEEP BLADES SHARP.
•
Dull blades greatly affect the performance of the machine and reduce cutting ability,
resharpen or replace as needed.
•
After you have removed a portion of material, clear the work area of debris. This
will give the machine maximum performance and help to keep the work area safe.
•
Always wear gloves when handling blades.
•
Everyone in work area should wear eye protection.
SELF-SCORING BLADES
Instead of pre-scoring a job, for soft goods (carpet, vinyl, linoleum, membrane) the self-
scoring blades automatically do the scoring.
APPLICATION SET-UP
CERAMIC SET-UP (FIGURE FF)
The slide plate should be adjusted to a low setting 2.5 cm (1”) off the
fl
oor. Use a Shank
Blade or a Shank Blade with a carbide tip.
