The program displays the amount of video
memory, the VGA BIOS version, any switch
settings, any co-resident graphics adapter,
and any memory locations used by other
devices. You are asked for the type of monitor
connected to the system. This determines
which resolutions, attributes and capabilities
the diagnostics program will test.
Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to select
which of the tests you want to run.
is a menu driven program that allows
you to load a monitor-specific parameter file, custom-
ize the size and/or position of the display (and save it
to a user-defined parameter file), and use the best
refresh rates on compatible monitors.
Monitor-specific parameter files are provided for
a
number of variable frequency monitors. Other pa-
rameter tables enable the VGA controller to display
resolutions at refresh rates of 70 Hz, 72 Hz and 76 Hz
(for compatible monitors). See Chapter 4 for monitor
requirements.
Also included is the which provides
800x600 resolution parameters for monitors which
display this resolution at 35 KHz horizontal and 56 Hz
vertical frequencies (such as the Sony Multiscan 1202
and the NEC II and 2A).
