Chapter 2: Using the VGA Utilities
This chapter explains how to use the utilities on the
VGA Utilities and Drivers diskette. These
programs allow you to use the extended capabilities of
the VGA circuitry.
Note: VGA Utilities and the Drivers are all in-
cluded in one diskette.
The following programs are included on the diskette:
is used to copy the utilities and drivers
from the diskette to your local hard drive.
Note: Most of the files on the diskette are com-
pressed. You must use to install these
files on the hard drive.
is a device driver that can be loaded
in the file. When used,
copies VGA BIOS into system memory, allowing pro-
grams that use frequent video BIOS calls to run faster.
is the main utility program. It lets you set
compatibility modes
for
the video circuitry, and lets you
set options for the screen saver included with the
program.
DU.COM is a program that displays directory informa-
tion in as many columns as can be displayed on the
screen (regardless of the display mode).
is a program the clears the entire screen
when in extended text modes (unlike the DOS com-
mand, which works well only in standard text
mode).
ESU.COM is a menu driven program for selecting text
and graphics modes.
