6.1 Replacing consumable components
This section describes when and how to replace the ink cartridges, roll media and flushing-box sponges.
6.1.1 Replacing ink cartridges
This section describes when to replace the ink cartridges.
(1) Replacement time
When "[*******] InkEnd" is displayed on the operation panel, follow the procedures described below.
• This message is displayed when there is no ink remaining in the ink cartridge.
• The alarm buzzer sounds.
To stop the buzzer, press the [Enter] key on the operation panel.
• Immediately replace it with the new ink cartridge.
NOTE
• [*******] in the messages for ink cartridge replacement indicates the color that runs out, using the
following characters.
The number of ink cartridge slot (the number shown on the sticker attached to the front side of each
slot) is displayed.
• 1: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 1
• 2: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 2
• 3: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 3
• 4: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 4
• 5: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 5
• 6: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 6
• 7: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 7
• 8: Ink cartridge in the slot No. 8
• ALL: All ink cartridges
• Do not insert or remove the ink cartridge except at the time of replacement.
Inserting or removing the ink cartridge mixes air into the ink tube, and failures such as nozzle
clogging trouble may occur.
• If "Ink End" is displayed, the printing operation stops.
• If "Ink End" is displayed, you cannot print until inserting the new ink cartridge.
• If there is no cartridge for replacement at hand, leave the empty ink cartridge inserted in the printer.
Leaving the printer with the ink cartridge removed may result in clogging of the print head.
