If the
diesel exhaust fluid
(DEF) symbol (Figure 84) is
displayed during ECU controller operation, it indicates the
following:
DEF tank level is below 10%. Reference Table 14, DEF
Level System Action.
DEF quality is poor. Check DEF tank level and check
active
diagnostic trouble codes
(DTC).

DEF STAT
DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF)
The amount of fluid in the DEF tank will be shown on the
ECU Controller main screen during operation. The symbol
shown in Figure 85 will be shown on the ECU monitor
indicating the level of fluid in the DEF tank.

NOTICE
The unit will enter emergency shutdown when the
DEF level has reached 0% and emergency protective
measures are necessary. When this condition exists,
the unit can only be restarted after ESCAPE MODE is
activated and the unit will run for 30 minutes. Reference
the “Escape Mode” section in this manual.
