INSTRUCTIONS

FOR USE

The lanyards described in these instructions are personal protective equipment (PPE) for work positioning and prevention of falls from a height. They are intended

for use as component of an attachment system in a restraint and work positioning system of the personal fall protection equipment and shall not be used outside its

limitations and intensions. This PPE complies with European Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The Declaration of Conformity can be found under the following link: https://

MSAsafety.com/DoC.
A work positioning and restraint system is an assembly of components and subsystems, including the necessary connectors, used to either:
(a) stabilize and partially support the user at an elevated work location and allow free use of both hands. This type of system is referred to as a work positioning system

or, simply, a positioning system, or
(b) restrict the user’s motion so as to prevent reaching a location where a potential fall hazard exists. This type of system is referred to as a restraint system or a travel

restriction system.
A positioning system includes the user’s harness and connecting means between the harness and an anchorage or anchorage connector. Such connecting means

usually consists of a positioning lanyard which is connected to both hip D-rings of the harness and wraps around or connects to an anchorage or anchorage connector.

A positioning system must always be backed up by a fall arrest system. A travel restriction system consists of the user’s harness and a fixed length or adjustable length

lanyard connected between any one of the harness D-rings and an anchorage or anchorage connector.
When using rebar positioning Lanyards, connect the two small snaphooks to the hip or waist attachment points on the harness with the large snaphook in front of your

body. Attach the large snaphook to a suitable anchorage. The user must be attached to an independent fall arrest system simultaneously. (Figure 4B)
To attach and adjust the lanyard, follow the steps in the figures (2, 3). Check all connectors to ensure they are closed and locked before use.
Regularly check fastening and/or adjustment elements during use.
It is the responsibility of the user of MSA lanyards to assure that they are made familiar with these User Instructions and trained by a competent person. Ensure that

you have been adequately trained in the use of this lanyard equipment and make sure that you fully understand how it works.
Chemical hazards, heat and corrosion may damage the lanyard. More frequent inspections are required in these environments. Do not use in environments with

temperatures lower than -30°C and greater than 50°C. Use caution when working around electrical hazards, moving machinery and abrasive surfaces.
The user must have a rescue plan and the means at hand to implement it; and that plan must take into account the equipment and special training necessary to effect

prompt rescue under all foreseeable conditions.
Assigning the lanyard to a user to allow tracking of lanyard usage is recommended. These instructions and record card should be issued with and kept with each

lanyard.
All components connected to this lanyard MUST be compatible. Use ONLY approved MSA components with this lanyard. Instructions and warnings of components

used with this lanyard MUST be followed.
The average lifespan of the product is 5 years. However, the following factors can reduce the performance of the product and its lifespan: incorrect storage, incorrect

use, fall arrest, mechanical warping, contact with chemicals (acids and alkalis), exposure to high temperatures.
Good medical fitness of the user is necessary in order to carry out work at a height. Certain medical conditions can threaten the users’ safety during normal use of

lanyard and in emergencies (taking medications, cardiovascular problem, etc.). In any case of doubt, consult your physician before using. Pregnant women and minors

MUST NEVER use the lanyard.

WARNINGS

The lanyards must not be used in a personal fall arrest system. For nonadjustable length of lanyard, the user must ensure the length of the system matches the required

limitation of movement. The connection element(s) of the harness/belt shall conform EN 358.
Never use the hip D-ring for fall arrest or climbing protection. The hip D-ring of a harness MUST ONLY be used for connecting a work positioning system (EN 358) and

NEVER a fall arrest system or climbing protection. Always use both hip D-rings together, for work positioning applications. Positioning type restraint systems must be

backed up by a separate and independent fall arrest system. Adjust work position lanyard so that the anchorage point is maintained at or above waist level. Ensure the

lanyard is kept taut and movement is restricted to a maximum distance of 0.6 meters.
Avoid any anchorage point on which strength is doubtful. Structural anchors provided for the purpose (in accordance with EN 795) or anchorage points with a minimum

strength of 10kN MUST be used.
The lanyard MUST be fully inspected before each use to verify that it is in serviceable condition. Additionally, the lanyard MUST be inspected once every twelve months

by a competent person authorized by current legislation in the country of use. Examine the lanyard straps for severe wear, cuts, burns, frayed edges, abrasion, or

other damage. Examine stitching for any pulled, loose, or torn stitches. Examine the legibility of the product markings. Do not use lanyard until confirmed in writing by

a competent person if inspection reveals an unsafe condition.
Specific recommendations given with the sub-systems must be observed.
DO NOT modify or attempt repairs on the lanyard.
If the lanyard has been subjected to fall arrest or impact forces, it MUST be immediately removed from use and destroyed.
DO NOT wrap the lanyard around an overhead beam or attempt to use the lanyard as an anchorage connecting device in a fall arrest system. Do not install or use

where device may encounter electrical hazards.
DO NOT allow lanyard legs to pass under arms, between legs or around neck.
Where possible, use an adjustable lanyard. NEVER reduce the length of a lanyard with a knot. This can reduce the strength by 50% or more. NEVER lengthen a lanyard

by attaching two lanyards together. Steel cable Lanyard should only be used for work positioning unless used with an energy absorber.
